Dear Parents/Carers,

We are emailing you to confirm that unless government guidance changes, Sunnymede Infants will be open as usual next week. DFE guidance received today states that 'we are not advising schools to close'. Please be assured that we will continue to provide excellent care for your children and are mindful of the unusual heat forecast. We have installed a new water cooler which children are using to refill bottles and we have an ice-cream treat on Monday afternoon. Where possible, children will stay out of the sun during this heatwave, and we will make use of the lovely shade we have in the Reception outside area.

Warm Weather Reminders

Please ensure your child has a refillable bottle of water in addition to any drinks that they may have for lunchtime. This is particularly important in this hot weather when children can become dehydrated quite quickly.

Please be prepared for the sunshine by making sure you apply sunscreen to your child before school.

All children should continue to wear their usual polo shirts as sleeveless tops could result in sunburnt shoulders.

Footwear should be ‘fit for purpose’ and suitable for playing on the playground and on the field. Strappy sandals with, or without heels are not suitable for Health and Safety reasons. Socks should be worn to avoid blisters and sore feet.

Please continue to send your child to school with a sun hat and ensure that it is clearly labelled with your child’s name.

Thank you.

Kind regards

Rachel Paulson
